Message From the CEO

Dear Friends,

I would like to welcome you to the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade’s redesigned website.  Our website is intended to convey our mission and vision as we are dedicated to upholding our legislatively mandated role to serve as leaders in maternal, infant and child health in Miami-Dade County.  As you navigate our site, you will learn more about our organization, the services we provide and the pride we have in our commitment to ensuring that every baby gets a HEALTHY START in life.

 Our mission is to reduce poor birth outcomes (premature births, low birth weight, and infant mortality) and improve health and developmental milestones by providing education and linkage to resources in Miami-Dade County.  With approximately 40,000 pregnancies and 32,000 live births annually, I can proudly say that we touch the lives of thousands of pregnant women, fathers, and infants in our community every year. 

 After 13 years of working hand in hand with Chief Executive Officer and founder of the Coalition, Manuel (Manny) Fermin, it is an honor for me to serve the organization in this new capacity. One of my priorities is to continue implementing strategies to facilitate services for mothers, fathers, and their children in our community, while eliminating systemic barriers to prenatal and childhood care.

 I look forward to another successful year ahead with continued efforts to share our expertise, passion, and consistent commitment so that every child in our community may have a HEALTHY START in life.
